Training & Development
We equip our staff with skills and competence and provide long-term development
Our human capital management strategy places priority on equipping our people with practical skills and providing them with opportunities to advance in their careers through on-the-job training and external training sponsorship schemes.
We encourage and sponsor employees to attend training programmes for job-relevant knowledge and skills that enhance their competence, upgrade their expertise or performance, and improve their abilities to take up future challenges.
We offer education sponsorships for employees to gain higher academic qualifications for their personal development. Sponsorship and examination leave are also given to employees to attend various professional development programmes and examinations such as FLMI, ACCA, HKICPA, CB, CFP and CFA organised by different professional bodies.
To foster and promote continuous professional development in the banking field, we continuously supports the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers to provide education and training to the banking community across the region. With Hong Kong being an international financial centre, it is essential that we contribute to the ongoing learning and development of professionals in the rapidly evolving banking industry.
We have received a number of "Best Practice Awards" from the Best Practice Management Group (including "Employee Engagement" in 2013, "Mentoring Programme Development" in 2014 and "Corporate Culture Development" and "Employee Care" in 2015). These awards are given to companies that demonstrate foresight, commitment and excellence in business and human resources practices as well as an ability to adapt quickly to a fast-changing environment.
We received "The Employer of Choice Award" from JobMarket for the sixth consecutive year in 2022. The award recognises our commitment and achievements in areas such as staff recruitment and retention, training and development, staff rewards, organisational culture and work-life balance. Since 2018, we have been awarded the status of "Manpower Developer" by the Employee Retraining Board. This designation recognises our outstanding achievements in training and development and in fostering an organisational culture which is conducive to life-long learning. In 2021, Dah Sing Bank was awarded the "Corporate Financial Education Leadership — Gold Award" by the Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong for the third consecutive year, and continued to receive the award in 2022 after it is renamed as "Corporate Financial Education and ESG Leadership – Gold Award". This award recognises our continuous contribution to financial education in Hong Kong. We also received the "HKIB Talent Development Award (Category I Award)" from the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) in 2019 and 2021 to acknowledge our efforts in the areas of talent recruitment and development, as well as the "Leading Employer for Professional Qualifications (LEPQ)" from HKIB in 2022 to recognise our commitment in fostering competence development of the local banking talent pool.
