1. How does WeChat Pay Hong Kong work?

After you have successfully bound your Dah Sing Bank account with WeChat Pay Hong Kong, you can transfer funds and send WeChat red packets via WeChat Pay Hong Kong. After you have successfully sent out the funds, the receiver will receive push notification from WeChat Pay Hong Kong with instructions on how to receive the fund.

2. How many accounts can I bind with my WeChat account in WeChat Pay Hong Kong?

Each WeChat account can bind up to 5 accounts (including credit cards and bank accounts), in which you can only bind up to 2 Dah Sing Bank accounts. For further details, please refer to WeChat Pay Hong Kong FAQ issued by WeChat.


3. What types of Dah Sing Bank accounts can I use with WeChat Pay Hong Kong?

You can select the following account types for binding with WeChat Pay Hong Kong to send and receive money via WeChat Pay Hong Kong. The eligible accounts will be displayed for your selection during registration and change account. Supported account types include:

  • Integrated HKD Current Account
  • Integrated HKD Savings Account (HKD)
  • HKD Current Account
  • HKD Savings Account
  • Visa / Master Credit Card

Note: Joint-name accounts, FlexiMoney Overdraft Facility accounts and Easi-Cash Overdraft accounts are not supported.


4. What should I do if I encounter issues related to the credit card bound with WeChat Pay Hong Kong?

6. What currencies are supported by WeChat Pay Hong Kong?

Currently, WeChat Pay Hong Kong only supports HKD transactions.


7. What is the maximum daily transaction limit for WeChat Pay Hong Kong?

For the maximum daily transaction limit of a particular WeChat Pay Hong Kong service (including funds transfer, red packet giving and online purchase etc.), please refer to WeChat Pay Hong Kong FAQ issued by WeChat or contact WeChat Service Hotline at 3910 5666. However, the maximum daily transaction limit for WeChat Pay Hong Kong is also subject to your Small-value Transfer Limit (Limit) at our Bank or the available Limit, whichever is lower. (The Small-value Transfer Limit is a daily limit of HKD10,000 at maximum or a lower amount you assigned.)

8. Dah Sing e-Banking Login ID and Password" are needed during binding. Is it referring to the same Login ID and password when I log into e-Banking or Mobile Banking service?

Please use your e-Banking Login ID / User ID and e-Banking Password for the binding.


9. Why do I need to use the same mobile phone number registered with the Bank for binding my account to WeChat Pay Hong Kong?

For security reasons, only the mobile phone number registered with the Bank is allowed for binding your account to WeChat Pay Hong Kong. If your mobile phone number in Bank's record is not up-to-date, please download the Customer Information Amendment Form and submit the completed Form to any of our branches in person to update your mobile phone number.


10. Do I need to set a WeChat Pay Hong Kong Payment Password same as my e-Banking or ATM?

The WeChat Pay Hong Kong Payment Password is for using WeChat Pay Hong Kong service after binding your account and transaction verification when conducting transactions. For security sake, it is not recommended to use the same password of your e-banking or ATM services as your WeChat Pay Hong Kong Payment Password.


11. If I have several WeChat accounts, can I register the same Dah Sing Bank account to all the WeChat Accounts?

No. Each Dah Sing Bank account can only be bound with 1 WeChat account.


12. Can I cancel the binding with WeChat Pay Hong Kong?

Yes. You can select "Bank Cards" in WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet. Select the account that you would like to cancel the binding and select "Unlink" to complete the cancellation.

13. What should I do if I forget my WeChat Pay Hong Kong Payment Password?

In case you forget your WeChat Pay Hong Kong Payment Password, you may refer to the WeChat Pay Hong Kong FAQ issued by WeChat for procedures of resetting the password.


14. What should I do if I lose my mobile phone after binding my account to WeChat Pay Hong Kong?

If you lose your mobile phone, you may suspend the Small-value Transfer Service by contacting our Customer Service Hotline at 2828 5000 to avoid any unauthorised transactions. You should also check the WeChat Pay Hong Kong FAQ issued by WeChat for account rebinding, WeChat ID resetting or other operations on WeChat ID related or contact WeChat Service Hotline at 3910 5666.

15. How do I know the money I sent has been received?

When your receiver received the fund or red packets sent by you, you will receive push notification from WeChat Pay Hong Kong. You may also check the "Balance Transaction" in WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet.


16. What would happen if my Send Money instruction has expired?

Money will be returned to the original payment source, i.e. your account bound with WeChat Pay Hong Kong or your WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet, if the receiver does not receive money after 24 hours.


17. How do I know if money has been deposited into my WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet?

You may refer to the "Balance Transaction" to check if money has been deposited to your WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet.


18. How do I know if there is payment sent to me?

You will receive a push notification from WeChat Pay Hong Kong that a payment has been sent to you.


19. Can I transfer money from WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet to my Dah Sing Bank account?

You can transfer money from WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet to your account which is bound with WeChat Pay Hong Kong. For further details, please refer to WeChat Pay Hong Kong FAQ issued by WeChat.


20. How long does it take to transfer money from WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet to my account?

Your money will be transferred to your account in 3-5 working days. For further details, please refer to WeChat Pay Hong Kong FAQ issued by WeChat.

21. How can I top up WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet using my account?

You can top-up your WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet using your Account after binding with your account (not including Dah Sing Bank Credit Cards). Upon successful account binding, you can key in the intended amount and it will be transferred to your WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet instantly without any charges.


22. How much can I top-up my WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet with my account each time?

The transaction limits for topping up WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet via your account are:

  • Daily transaction limit: HKD1,500*^ (share with other WeChat Pay transactions)
  • Monthly transaction limit: HKD5,000*^ (share with other WeChat Pay transactions)

*If counted by all top-up channels, the top-up limit is HKD10,000 per month and HKD100,000 per year. (The top-up limit is set by WeChat Pay and may change from time to time) ^The daily top-up limit is also subject to your daily Small-value Transfer Limit (Limit) at our Bank or daily available limit, whichever is lower. (The daily maximum Small-Value Transfer limit is HKD10,000 or your self-assigned limit of the Bank per day)


23. How do I know if I have completed the top-up for WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet?

You will receive push message notification from WeChat Pay Hong Kong upon successful completed the top-up transaction. You can also check your transaction records via "Transactions" and "Balance Transactions" in your WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet respectively.


24. Why was my top-up transaction unsuccessful?

An unsuccessful top-up may be due to one of the following reasons:

  • The top-up amount exceeds the limits. Please refer to Q.22 of this page for further details
  • The top-up of the intended amount would result in the Wallet Balance exceeding the upper limit of WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet. (i.e. the upper limit of Wallet Balance is HKD100,000 for users who have registered personal information)
  • The WeChat account is abnormal. Please report to WeChat if your account is at risk or insecure and the top-up function become unavailable

25. Can I apply for a refund after topping up the WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet?

You cannot refund after topping up your WeChat Pay Hong Kong Wallet. However, you can use the amount stored in your Wallet Balance to send red packets, make funds transfer or online purchases. You can also withdraw money from Wallet Balance to your bank account.
